Urban & Rural were appointed to prepare and coordinate the planning submission for a new cement importation, storage and distribution facility within the established port environment of London Thamesport, Medway.

The proposal delivers a purpose-built facility designed to receive cement via sea freight and distribute it efficiently across the South East construction market. The development comprises a new access road, a large warehouse for storage and handling, five cement silos with associated loading bellows, a prefabricated office building, and an underground pipeline connecting the site directly to the port’s unloading infrastructure.

The scheme has been shaped by extensive input from transport and ecological consultants, ensuring safe vehicle manoeuvring, clear operational separation of functions, and the protection of on-site habitats. The resulting design integrates seamlessly within its industrial setting, reflecting the robust character of the Thamesport estate while adopting a clean, efficient layout that supports sustainable freight logistics.
