Project Overview
This modern barn is nestled within the picturesque Kent countryside, outside of any established built environment. Despite previous unsuccessful attempts by the client to obtain planning consent for residential use, we were appointed to assess the feasibility of securing a change of use and converting the existing block-built modern barn into a private residential dwelling.
Challenges and Strategy
To navigate the planning hurdles, our practice leveraged planning policies related to the re-use of existing, redundant agricultural structures to support the legitimacy of the proposed scheme.
Outcome
We successfully secured full planning consent for our client. The project has progressed to the detailed design phase, with our team producing a comprehensive technical building pack. Construction is now underway on site.
