The Watch Makers Cottage

The Watch Makers Cottage in Wingham is one of three cottages located on the High Street within the Wingham conservation area.

The original structure is a Grade II Listed Medieval timber framed Hall House, on a ‘Three-cell plan’ and is one of the Historic Buildings of Kent.

The Hall House had been poorly subdivided to three cottages in the past. The middle cottage had been a rental property with no maintenance carried out for over 30 years.

Urban and Rural have secured Full Planning and Listed Building consent to re-order two of the cottages into one large dwelling with an additional rear extension housing a new shower room.

As part of the works a number of issues were found with the existing building created by poor maintenance and care by a previous owner. A full schedule of works was produced to rectify all the issues discovered using best practice to preserve the historic asset and insure its longevity to be enjoyed for many years to come.
