The Old Ticket Office

The Old Ticket Office originally sat alongside the Chiltern railway. Following the decommissioning of the line, the Old Ticket Office sat empty for a number of decades before it was converted into a home in the early 1990’s.

The original conversion lacked an architectural eye and the building required a higher level of design.

Urban & Rural were appointed to secure planning approval for an additional extension, while enhancing the look of the final building.

This would prove to be a challenge as the original internal floor area of the Old Ticket Office was only 23m². The building had been heavily extended in the past and by adding the additional floor space the client desired, this would take the building up to 183m² – well over the allowed 60% expansion limit.

Because of the quality of the scheme, Urban & Rural secured full planning consent for the required brief, achieving a total expansion on the original 23m2 Old Ticket Office of 160m² – a massive 695% of the original building.
