St Benedict’s Care Home

St Benedict’s Care Home was a failing care facility located within the conservation area on Herne Bay seafront. Urban and Rural were appointed to look at converting and extending the existing building to provide luxury seafront accommodation.

As the existing building was located within the conservation area, Canterbury City Council had assessed the value of the building to be high and stated it contributed to the seafront. Because of this the proposed brief was to convert and extend the existing building.

Urban and Rural secured Full Planning and Conservation Area consent to extend the existing building providing 10 new apartments ranging from 1, 2 and 3-bedroom units
